Beta Test Agreement

Effective 19 October 2026

The licence for the Inkfernal beta: the Windows build, the browser version, and online co-op during the test.

1. Agreement

This agreement is between you and Ian Greenberg. By signing in to the beta, downloading a beta build or playing the beta in your browser, you agree to it and to our Privacy Policy.

2. Age

You must be at least 13 years old to take part. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to this agreement for you.

3. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the beta for testing and for your own enjoyment while the beta runs. The game remains ours; you get only the rights written here.

4. What you may not do

  • Share the beta password, or let anyone else use your access.
  • Redistribute, upload, sell or rent any beta build or file, or host the browser version anywhere else.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or modify the game, except where the law expressly allows it.
  • Attack, overload or abuse the co-op service, or use cheats to spoil someone else's game.

5. Streaming, videos and screenshots

Yes, please. You may stream the beta, record videos and post screenshots, including on monetised channels, as long as you label them clearly as the beta (for example "Inkfernal beta" or "work in progress").

6. Feedback

If you send us feedback, ideas or bug reports, we may use them freely, in any way, without paying you or owing you anything.

7. Unfinished software

The beta is unfinished. It may crash, contain bugs, behave strangely, or lose or corrupt your saves. Progress may be wiped between builds, and features may change or disappear before release. Please do not rely on it for anything important.

8. Ending the beta

We may change, pause or end the beta, change the password, or end your access at any time, with or without notice. You may stop at any time. When the beta ends or your access ends, your licence ends too, and you should delete any beta builds you downloaded.

9. Your data

Our Privacy Policy explains what the beta collects, including crash reports from the desktop build and how the co-op relay works.

10. No warranty

The beta is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Ian Greenberg will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, saves, profits or goodwill, arising from the beta. Our total liability for any claim about the beta is limited to US$50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

12. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about it will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.

13. Changes

We may update this agreement for new builds. The effective date above shows when it last changed, and playing a beta build after a change means you accept the new version.

14. Contact

Inkfernal is developed and published by Ian Greenberg. Questions about this page, or any request about your data, go to [email protected].
